#PostgreSQL Help - Charsets

@anomis66 documentation at postgresql.org/docs/current/sq but probably you want to specify encoding 'utf8':

\copy (select * from systems) to stdout with (format 'csv', encoding 'utf8');

(Or you could try pg_dump instead.)

A lad I work with built a thing called Donation Genie—a website that displays the items that are most needed at each specific food bank across the UK.

The BBC have very kindly done a nice write-up about what it is, why it’s needed, and what it hopes to achieve. If you are in the UK, please boost this to help get the link to those who need it.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Radia Perlman will be joining us at SharkFest'23 US to give a keynote speech.

Engineer and mathematician Radia Perlman was one of very few women involved in assembling the networks and technology that later became the internet. Her invention of the algorithm behind the Spanning Tree Protocol solved a challenging information routing problem and earned her the moniker “Mother of the Internet."

Join us next month in San Diego!

Good news! .zip and .mov are now TLDs, not just file extensions! So mentioning archive.zip in chat may now link to a phishing site or something.

Wait no, that's *bad* news...

Glass Cliff Theory holds that once the boys network have decided a CEO job is too hard or the company unsalvageable THEN they give it to a woman. And when she fails they blame it on her.

So if/when Space McAfee boasts about appointing a female CEO to Twitter, remember that.

I spent the last week working with CBS News on their coverage of the coronation. I was tasked with getting their roving crews on air using the private 5G network made by BBC R&D and Neutral Wireless, with broadcast kit from LiveU.

This is how it went:

If you have an 'old' Twitter account you don't want deleted for archive or impersonation reasons, then it's probably worth logging back in once and following Elon.

Bet you cash money the Twitter devs will write any delete queries in the next few months with an 'unless they follow Elon' clause.

Do YOU want to be the one explaining to the Narcissist-In-Chief why his follower count dropped?

(Also download the archive of your old tweets if there is good reason to preserve them for the future)
