Hi friends, I have been working on a service to help get RSS feeds into mastodon, and it's more or less ready for prime time. It lives at:

feedsin.space/

Basically, you:

1) create an account by sending a message to @admin with the word "help", and clicking on the link you get back

2) specify the URL to a feed, and a username for the feed

3) your feed lives at ____@feedsin.space, and you can follow it like any other account in the fedi

Tube and rail strikes this week in London and the UK:
- Wednesday 15 March: Tube strike
- Thursday 16 March: Rail strike
- Saturday 18 March: Rail strike
There is often disruption the following morning. National rail affects most lines, but Overground, Elizabeth and c2c are ok this time.

Whoa! I had no idea that analog digital conversion and PCM (pulse code modulation) existed in 1948. And that they built their ADCs using "electronic beam deflection tubes" for turning analog values into digital code-words: archive.org/details/bstj27-1-4

OpenBSD have spare space on the install CD, so they record their own songs with lyrics describing how the release cycle went. Wonderful! openbsd.org/lyrics.html

It's not all that surprising that businesses have lied about the recyclability of plastics. What was *somewhat* of a surprise to me was ... just how far back that deceit goes: 1973.

Back in 1973, Exxon knew there would not be a cost effective way to recycle plastic.

@pluralistic's latest Pluralistic traces the lies from Exxon's early recycling campaign ads through Dow's promise to turn sneakers into playground surfaces: pluralistic.net/2020/09/14/the
