Hi friends, I have been working on a service to help get RSS feeds into mastodon, and it's more or less ready for prime time. It lives at:
Basically, you:
1) create an account by sending a message to @admin with the word "help", and clicking on the link you get back
2) specify the URL to a feed, and a username for the feed
3) your feed lives at ____@feedsin.space, and you can follow it like any other account in the fedi

Barbie have come a long way. This is ace news. Maggie Aderin-Pocock has her own Barbie! “The Barbie modelled on me is a space scientist with her own telescope. Newly published today: Detached from reality, a long read by Kayley Hignell at Citizens Advice. I've been working with Kayley for a while to help her get this written, and we're both very pleased with the result.

Whoa! I had no idea that analog digital conversion and PCM (pulse code modulation) existed in 1948. And that they built their ADCs using "electronic beam deflection tubes" for turning analog values into digital code-words: https://archive.org/details/bstj27-1-44/mode/2up

I have made a (free and libre) font with the ZX81 semigraphics characters in. I needed this for another project.

It's not all that surprising that businesses have lied about the recyclability of plastics. What was *somewhat* of a surprise to me was ... just how far back that deceit goes: 1973.
Back in 1973, Exxon knew there would not be a cost effective way to recycle plastic.
@pluralistic's latest Pluralistic traces the lies from Exxon's early recycling campaign ads through Dow's promise to turn sneakers into playground surfaces: https://pluralistic.net/2020/09/14/they-knew/#doing-it-again
