Can anyone recommend a free and open source platform to listen to music to and buy it? I really hate having a youtube tab open, and most of the ones I know are all proprietary.

@vancha is shoutcast still going? Wikipedia says proprietary, but I'm pretty sure it's a tcp socket which spews mp3 as soon as you connect.
Old episodes from the http://ratholeradio.org/ podcast have conversation mixed in, but are amazing and worth listening to.
