We need an open source phone now. I'm looking around for a replacement to my own, and everything I can buy is terrible. Nokia has it's latest privacy scandal right now, every phone comes with google software, xiaomi phones with ads built in, apple is too locked down and doesn't allow you to install all apps. A lot of other phones have about 0 community roms because of driver reasons.
I'm really rooting for the #librem5 to become a success.

@vancha fairphone's quite good at supporting a decent google-free os with no bloatware.

The hardware was a little behind when it was released 3 years ago, which really shows if you compare with a modern screen display. But they keep updating the software, even on the open source version of the os.
